TEAM INDIA

In 2011 a few volunteers went to India to put 6 water pumps in places where there was no water. While they were there, they heard of a young boy of 15 die due to choking while he was having his school lunch.

From that incident Team India was formed who had the idea of going back to India to teach the school children First Aid and to check if the water pumps were still working or if they required maintenance.

The team consists of a professional group who work for the NHS Ambulance and Fire Service in the U.K.

They have delivered training to over 1,800 people which have included teachers, students and staff in various schools in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Jamshedpur.

They have also given training to the sewadars at The Golden Temple.

The training they deliver is from Minor Injuries to Cardiac Arrest.

In October the team once again traveled to India to deliver more First Aid Training in the areas mentioned above and to Darjeeing to train Rescuers who rescue people from landslides as the area is prone to landslides due to heavy rain fall.

The team fund their own cost for food, travel and accommodation.

On 10th September 2022, WSL (Wednesday Super League) helped in raising money for defibrillators, first aid books, first aid response bags, bandages and first aid manakins.

Amit Johal Fundraiser

Event Date & Donation Information
Mount Snowdon ( In Memory of Raj Johal ) June 2023 ( £40,000 ) “The money that Amit has raised has been absolutely instrumental in enabling us to reach out to people that otherwise would never know the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer,” said Victoria Clare, chief executive of Ovacome.

In June, more than 160 of Mrs. Johal’s friends and family from across the world climbed Mount Snowdon.

For many, there came a point where the task seemed too much, but it was her voice willing them to the summit, said Mr Johal.

The thousands raised will support the charity Ovacome, who nominated Mr Johal for a Pride of Britain award because of his “incredible bravery”, so soon after the death of his wife.

“The money that Amit has raised has been absolutely instrumental in enabling us to reach out to people that otherwise would never know the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer,” said Victoria Clare, chief executive of Ovacome.

“If gratitude was on a scale of one to 100, we would have to go with 150.

“He has really been a catalyst for change. The money is important, but the awareness that the family has raised has been so much more important than that. We are so grateful and so humbled by their commitment, love, and hard work.”
